Themed expert tours

A 5-star experience

Important

 

  • A fixed starting price, including guide, valid for 1 to 10 participants.
  • Themed expert tours take you into confined spaces, so the number of participants is limited to 12.
  • You can choose and change the number of participants as desired, up to a maximum of 12 people. You do not need to notify us in advance.
  • Minimum age of participants is 16 years.
  • For all themed expert tours, please wear sturdy clothing.
  • A theme visit is not possible for people with reduced mobility or for people in a wheelchair and is strongly discouraged for people with heart problems and people with claustrophobia.

 

Practical Information

  • Pre-booking is required and reservations can be made up to 8 days before the date of visit.
  • Cancellations are possible by email only and up to 2 working days before the date of your booking. In case of later cancellation or 'no show' the visit will still be charged.
  • Payment at the ticket office, electronically or in cash, on the day of the visit.
  • The guide will be waiting for your group at the entrance of the fort
  • We ask you to be present 15 minutes before your chosen time slot
  • In case of late arrival by more than 15 minutes, the visit may be shortened

What to expect

  • A 3 to 3.5 hour visit for connaisseurs and technology buffs
  • A guided tour of the interior of the fort's largest artillery cupola and the bunker below
  • In-depth explanation of the ingenious mechanism of the artillery cupola and the loading system of the two 120mm FRC guns
  • A detailed tour of the cupola itself, including both levels of the gun room
  • This visit takes you into small and confined spaces and requires the use of iron ladders

This visit is not possible for people with reduced mobility or for people in wheelchairs and is strongly discouraged for people with heart problems and people with claustrophobia.

The visit is not suitable for children under 16 years of age.

  • A 4 to 4.30 hour visit for connoisseurs and technology buffs
  • The visit starts with the interior visit of the artillery dome (see visit artillery dome 120mm - Interior)
  • Followed by an outside visit to the dome and the upper plateau where the attack took place (*)
  • This visit takes you into in very small and narrow spaces and requires the use of iron ladders
  • Participants must be in good physical condition
* For the outdoor visit, please wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions.

What to expect

  • A discovery tour for the brave of 3 to 3.5h using torch lights
  • Part of the tour takes you into unlit corridors . A torch light is mandatory and can be purchased at the ticket office
  • This tour requires a long underground walk with many stairs to reach the Albert Canal
  • Visit all three floors of the Canal Nord bunker. On the upper floor, and with some effort, you can sit in the machine gun dome, looking out over the Albert Canal like the soldiers from the garrison in 1940
  • Participants must be in good physical condition and not suffer from claustrophobia

This visit is not possible for people with reduced mobility, people in wheelchairs and people with claustrophobia. It is strongly discouraged for people with heart problems.

What to expect

  • A 3h30 to 4h visit for connoisseurs and technology buffs
  • Visit both retractable cupolas and their associated bunkers
  • In-depth technical briefing of the retractable cupolas and their 75mm guns
  • Short outdoor visit to the Couple Nord bunker
  • To visit both cupolas, two sets of stairs with a  combined height of +/- 50 m will need to be climbed
  • Participants must be in good physical condition
More information and booking

The underground barracks and the museum are heated. The tunnel network has a constant temperature of 11°C. A sweater or jacket is strongly recommended. We also recommend closed shoes.
