  • Pre-booking is required and reservations can be made up to 5 days before the date of visit.
  • Cancellations are possible by email only and up to 2 working days before the date of your booking. In case of later cancellation or 'no show' the cost of the guide(s) will still be charged.
  • Payment by invoice if requested at the time of booking. If not, payment at the ticket desk, electronically or in cash, on the day of the visit.

     

 

Visiting the fort is a great practical history lesson, and takes you to a place where history really happened.

What to expect

A tour of the interior of the fort lasting 1.5 hours

  • In the fort, the children will learn about the history of the region and the events that their WW2 ancestors experienced
  • During an educational discovery tour of the underground barracks, your guide(s) will explain the story of the fort and talk about daily life of the soldiers in and around the fort
  • If there is some time left and the weather conditions are favourable, we will finish the visit with a short outdoor walk

This visit is suitable for children aged 9 to 11/12 years. It is also suitable for less mobile children.

What to expect

A 2h tour of the interior of the fort

  • Visit the barracks, the museum, a bunker and the command post
  • The guide(s) will explain the European geopolitical situation at the end of the 1930s and will introduce the German attack on Belgium in May 1940
  • Students will gain a vivid insight into the history of the 20th century; a century marked by two worldwide conflicts

What to expect

A 3h tour of the interior and exterior of the fort.

  • Interior visit of the barracks, the museum, a complete bunker and the command post
  • Followed by a visit to the plateau where the assault on the fort took place,  65m above the entrance (*)
  • Visiting the plateau will gives students a clear tactical insight in the defensive position and the plans of the German attackers
* For the outdoor visit, please wear clothing that is appropriate for the weather conditions.

This visit is suitable for secondary school students.

The visit includes a 65m climb to the plateau, reached via a forest path.

The underground barracks and the museum are heated. The tunnel network has a constant temperature of 11°C. A sweater or jacket is strongly recommended. We also recommend closed shoes.
