An individual tour where you join a pre-arranged group.

Set off on a guided tour of the fort’s most remarkable spots, led by an expert guide.

The minimum age is 16.

The guided tours are not suitable for people with reduced mobility, or for those with heart conditions or claustrophobia.

You can also visit these specific areas as part of a ‘private themed tour’.

 

 

 

 

 

Practical Information

  • You can book a discovery tour for up to 4 people.
  • Booking is required. Places are limited.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before departure.
  • After the discovery tour, you are free to visit the underground barracks or take part in an outdoor tour of the upper plateau where the attack took place.
  • You are free to visit the underground barracks either before or after your booked discovery tour.

What to expect

  • A specialised tour for visitors who have previously taken a standard tour.
  • One Saturday a month. Each month features a different programme, which is repeated every three months
  • The tour concludes with the start-up of the century-old Carels generator, the mechanical heart of the fort. This impressive 175-horsepower engine, installed in the late 1930s to provide the fort with essential electricity, fell silent after the Second World War. Today, it runs once again.

What to expect

  • A route taking in all the key points of the massif where the attack of 10 May 1940 took place.
  • From the plateau, join the guide for a tour inside the Mi-Noord machine-gun bunker. The bunker was captured by the German attackers and subsequently used as a command post.

The underground barracks and museum are heated, while the tunnel network maintains a constant temperature of 11°C. We strongly recommend wearing a sweater or jacket, as well as closed-toe shoes.

Opening hours for May

During the month of May, several commemorative ceremonies related to the Second World War will take place. As a result, the opening hours of the fort are adjusted.

🔸 Sunday 3 May
Commemorative ceremony at the fort at 11:00.
The fort opens at 12:00 – last entry at 15:00.

🔸 Tuesday 5 May
Liberation Day (Netherlands).
Open from 10:00 to 17:00 – last entry at 15:00.

🔸 Sunday 10 May
Commemoration of the attack on the fort and on Belgium and the Netherlands.
No regular guided tours. Memorial Tours only (advance booking per time slot required – see link).
