Discovery tour

The discovery tours are specialised guided visits intended for visitors who have previously taken a standard tour.

These tours are not suitable for children under the age of 16, for persons with reduced mobility, or for individuals with heart conditions or claustrophobia.

You can also book discovery tours as a private tour on a specific theme.

 

 

 

 

Practical Information

The discovery tour takes place in a mixed group. 
Booking is required. Places are limited.
The discovery tours take place on one Saturday per month.
Please arrive 15 minutes before departure.

10am - 1pm

  • Visit of a specific part of the fort with an expert guide.
  • The discovery tour has a different programme every month, which is repeated every three months.
  • The tour concludes with the start-up of the century-old Carels generator, the mechanical heart of the fort. This impressive 175-horsepower engine, installed in the late 1930s to provide the fort with essential electricity, fell silent after the Second World War. Today, it runs once again.

The underground barracks and museum are heated, while the tunnel network maintains a constant temperature of 11°C. We strongly recommend wearing a sweater or jacket, as well as closed-toe shoes.

The minimum age is 16 years.

The discovery tours are not suitable for people with reduced mobility, nor for people with heart problems or claustrophobia.

With the combination ticket, you will visit a combat bunker and the command post with a guide. The barracks and the museum can be visited at your own pace.
